Bastards!!

I knew it was just a matter of time. I mean, why not? In El Cajon you’re not allowed to smoke. Not even in your back yard. There’s a city (I forget where and I’m too damn lazy to go research it) that is or will be banning people from wearing their pants down past their butt crack. (That one is pure bullshit because it’s taking away from MY entertainment!)

Anyway, I just wanted to take this opportunity to warn you that, while I’m not an alarmist, I have seen a lot of people’s freedoms taken away from them slowly over the last couple of decades, and it’s just a matter of time before it affects you and something you enjoy doing.

So be careful what you wish for. Trying to get something taken away from someone else will ultimately end up getting something taken away from you in return.

Last week when the two girls, 13 and 10, in Arizona rode that ATV into the mine shaft where the 13 year old died, it got me to thinking. I’ve recently been tracking ATV accidents, and when I saw this one, even before it started getting national coverage, I wondered what went wrong.

In my study, I count the total number of accidents, and separate them in to categories that tell me things like how many wore a helmet, rode on pavement, rode with passengers, rode a quad that’s too big, etc.

I read about a dozen of these a week, so I try not to let the stories get to me, but this one did. I realize most of the facts point to a fairly safe trip, except riding a passenger, which I believe in this case would not have made a difference.

So what went wrong?

Here’s what went wrong… The father was ahead of them, and went back to look when he realized they were missing. They were riding at night, so he didn’t see the mine shaft. He didn’t have another adult in back of the group either. But even that might not have made a difference, because authorities say the girl that died, died instantly in the fall.

Residents of the area know there are dozens of abandoned, unmarked mines out there in the hills where the two girls were riding. At night.

I think there are several things this family could have done to prevent this, like staying on trails, etc, and they could have saved the younger sister of the trauma of spending the night next to her dead sister by having an adult ride in back.

I also think the state of Arizona needs to step up and do something about the thousands of abandoned mines. At the very least, mark them. Put together a community project to go out and find them, mark them and warn people about it.

How appropriate.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The eBay auction for 22 Michael Vick football cards, chewed up and slobbered on by two Missouri dogs, ended Wednesday as the winning bidder dished out $7,400 — with the money expected to be donated to the Humane Society.

I don’t like gang-bangers, and I don’t like idiots who torture (dogs). This guy is a disgrace. I hope he rots in hell, and I hope Bubba the Love Sponge has his way with him in jail. I’ll even pitch in a few bucks for Bubba to buy a 5 gallon bucket to put over Vick’s head so nobody has to hear the screaming while he’s taking it in the pooper.

Just wanted to pass this along. It’s an article I wrote for ATV Source Magazine that talks about a battle between a motocross track and the home owners in San Diego. To summarize, the race track has been there for over 3 decades, and now people that live next to it, (and I mean RIGHT next to it) are starting to complain.

In the article I took a very un-biased approach in the interest of fair journalism, but it is my strong opinion that a) the homeowners were told about the racetrack when they bought the house, and b) they need to shut the hell up about it already.

Now the news is making her out to be the victim. She broke the law. She’s been breaking the law for 10 years (been deported already before this). Not only that, she fraudulently got a job at an airport using a stolen Social Security Number! That, fellow readers, is a F.E.L.O.N.Y.

I know the news is not about news; it’s about ratings, but that’s just ef’n ridiculous. Lets call a spade a spade.

Barona Oaks Raceway has your back! (If you’re using Firefox, you may have to enable your IE extension to get the page to load right, damn that Microsoft and their failure to adhere to WWW standards :sigh: )

They’ve go a big track and a kiddy track for motorcycles, and they also let ATVs on there on Wed for practice. It costs 25 bucks per rider with no membership fees.

If you want to race, you can race on weekends, and they have 10$ unimproved camping with a snack bar.

Obviously, it’s for the oil that is now becoming more accessible due to climate change. So Russia, well, lets just say Russia isn’t too shy. Yeah. That’s it.

But wait, now Canada has countered that with a proposed military base there. (Yeah, I know, The Moscow Times. But hey, they get a few things right there from time to time.)

I know we don’t usually hear much from Canada and military in the same story (excluding their limited involvement in the current Holy War), and many of us don’t even know what street Canada is on, but it’s interesting none the less that they are willing to go head to head with Russia, Denmark and Norway, (notice I didn’t say the US, because with all these liberals running around appeasing Radical Islamic Muslims who want to kill me and my family, fighting the US is now the in thing to do), over what could amount to control of 25% of the world’s undiscovered oil and gas.

In the dunes, I can recall many times waking up on Sunday morning at the dunes and riding for miles and miles without a single trace of an ATV trail, even though the day before literally thousands of the noisy, destructive and rude beasts plowed through and destroyed everything in sight.

I imagine with hikers, it would be a matter of hours before any trace of them are gone.
