Barona Oaks Raceway Faces Opposition from Nearby Residents

by Matt Finley

Just wanted to pass this along. It’s an article I wrote for ATV Source Magazine that talks about a battle between a motocross track and the home owners in San Diego. To summarize, the race track has been there for over 3 decades, and now people that live next to it, (and I mean RIGHT next to it) are starting to complain.

In the article I took a very un-biased approach in the interest of fair journalism, but it is my strong opinion that a) the homeowners were told about the racetrack when they bought the house, and b) they need to shut the hell up about it already.

Good point. Maybe the owners feel that they have more power now and want to use it.

And surely they were aware of the noise when they were building their houses, right? ;)

The homeowners are mad and will get any leverage they think they can use. They’re going on about the health, noise and dust “risks” because that’s about all they have, even though the EPA has been out there already.

I’ve done a couple interviews at the track since I wrote that article over at ATV Source. I’m going to do a couple more up in the ‘estates’ so I can do a follow up article.
